IIHM Hosts Amazing Thailand Celebration
– With Spectacular Thai Food & Film Festival through hospitality
The International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), Kolkata, proudly hosted the inaugural celebration of ‘Amazing Thailand in Kolkata 2026: Flavours, Films’ at the IIHM Global Campus on 6 August 2026. Organised in collaboration with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and CPF India, the event celebrated the enduring friendship between India and Thailand through food, culture and cinema.
The evening welcomed nearly 160 distinguished guests, including Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, along with Consuls-General and diplomatic representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, the United Kingdom, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Myanmar, Australia, and the Honorary Consul of New Zealand. School principals, hospitality industry leaders, hotel general managers, academicians and media representatives also attended the celebration.

The programme marked the inauguration of the Thai Film Festival with a special showcase of film festival highlights, while the culinary segment, themed ‘Temple to Table’, introduced guests to the richness of authentic Thai cuisine. A live Thai cooking (Golden Prawns and Miang Kham) demonstration by Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep and an authentic Thai dinner prepared by Chef Samrong, together with IIHM’s master chefs and students, became the highlight of the evening. Traditional Thai dance performances further brought the country’s vibrant cultural heritage to life.
For IIHM students, the event was much more than a cultural celebration. Working alongside the Consulate’s chef and interacting with diplomats and international guests provided invaluable hands-on learning in global hospitality, international cuisine and professional service standards. From welcoming guests and managing hospitality operations to preparing authentic Thai dishes, students experienced real-world hospitality in an international setting.
Events like these reflect IIHM’s commitment to offering immersive global learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. By connecting students with international culinary traditions, diplomatic communities and cross-cultural hospitality practices, IIHM continues to prepare future hospitality professionals for successful global careers.
