Celebrating Freedom, Service and the Spirit of India
The 80th Indian Independence Day was celebrated with great pride, joy and enthusiasm at the IIHM Global Campus, bringing together students and faculty to honour the freedom that India cherishes today. The campus was beautifully decorated with the Tricolour and filled with the cheerful faces of IIHM students, creating a strong sense of unity and patriotism.
Dr. Suborno Bose, Founder and Chief Mentor, IIHM, hoisted the National Flag and addressed the gathering. He reminded students of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the responsibility that comes with living in a free nation. He also spoke about the special significance of August 15 for the hospitality industry, as it marks the birth anniversary of Rai Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi, born on August 15, 1898, the visionary founder of the Oberoi Hotels.
The celebrations continued with lively cultural performances. IIHM students came together through patriotic songs, music and dance, expressing their love for the nation and celebrating the spirit of freedom. Their enthusiastic performances added colour, energy and warmth to the occasion.
Mrs. Sanjukta Bose, Founding Member and Director, IIHM Kolkata also addressed the students and highlighted IIHM’s commitment to social responsibility. As part of the Independence Day celebrations, IIHM students will participate in its Food Soldier initiative. Third-year students prepared food that will be distributed among senior citizens, children and other people in need through old-age homes and charitable organisations in Kolkata, including Premdaan, associated with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity.

The initiative will also see newly admitted first-year students accompany their seniors, symbolising the passing of the baton from one generation of IIHM students to the next.
At IIHM, hospitality goes beyond professional skills. It is about caring for people, serving society and creating a positive impact. These values are nurtured from the very beginning, shaping students into compassionate, responsible and confident global hospitality professionals.
With world-class education, global exposure, industry-led training and a strong culture of service, IIHM continues to stand among India’s leading hospitality management institutions, preparing the hospitality leaders the world needs.
Happy 80th Independence Day! Jai Hind!
