IIHM Online Teachers’ Day Awards 2026: Celebrating the Nation’s Educators

IIHM connects with educators across India through its online Teachers’ Day Awards, celebrating their contribution to education and promoting more engaging classroom learning

The International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) celebrated Teachers’ Day 2026 by bringing educators together through its online Teachers’ Day Awards. The virtual format enabled teachers, principals and school administrators who could not attend in person to join the celebrations.

More than 250 schools across India participated, representing major cities, smaller towns and remote regions. Educators joined from places including Aalo, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bareilly, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dehradun, Durgapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kolkata, New Delhi, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Varanasi and Vadodara, among others.

Dr Suborno Bose, Founder and Chairman of IIHM and the Indismart Group, reflected on the 15-year journey of the Teachers’ Day Awards and the role educators play in shaping society.

“I honestly feel each teacher of the country is a nation builder,” said Dr Bose.

He emphasised that education goes beyond examination results and academic performance. Teachers help students develop character, compassion, courage, resilience and confidence—qualities that prepare them to face challenges and contribute to society.

Dr Bose also encouraged educators to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to make teaching more engaging, while preserving the human connection at the heart of learning.

“AI will never replace you. AI will never replace the teachers,” he said, emphasising that technology can support teachers but cannot replace their empathy, knowledge and care for students.

In her welcome address, Ms Sanjukta Bose, Founder-Director, IIHM Kolkata, highlighted IIHM’s philosophy of combining empathy with technology. She encouraged educators to embrace innovation without losing sight of the human values that make teaching meaningful.

“Technology will continue to evolve but a great teacher will always have the power to change a life,” she said.

Her message reinforced IIHM’s belief that digital tools can improve access to learning, while teachers provide the personal attention, encouragement and emotional connection that help students grow.

IIHM also highlighted Knowledge Capsule, presented by Rajeev Poddar, Founder and Managing Director of Knowledge Capsules, as an example of how the institute supports teachers beyond awards and celebrations.

The initiative provides schools with short, engaging learning resources, including PDFs, videos and quizzes, to introduce students to current affairs and general knowledge. Teachers can use these ready-to-use materials in smart classrooms or deliver the lessons themselves. Interactive quizzes encourage participation and help students build confidence in expressing their ideas.

Through Knowledge Capsule, IIHM aims to help teachers enrich classroom discussions, connect lessons with the world around students and make learning more engaging.

IIHM brings its focus on technology and human values together through initiatives that recognise educators and support their everyday work. The online awards expanded participation across geographical boundaries, while Knowledge Capsule offered practical resources that teachers can use in their classrooms.

Dr Bose’s vision encourages educators to explore AI and other emerging tools without compromising empathy, curiosity and human connection. As technology reshapes education, IIHM continues to advocate an approach in which innovation strengthens the teacher’s role rather than diminishes it.

By connecting with schools across India and providing resources for classroom learning, IIHM aims to help educators prepare students not only for academic success but also for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
