The International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) has taken a meaningful step towards strengthening community nutrition with the launch of India’s first Egg Bank in Bengaluru, in association with the Valmiki Foundation. The initiative creates a new model of student-led social responsibility, bringing hospitality education closer to the needs of society.
The Egg Bank aims to provide children from vulnerable communities with a regular source of high-quality protein and essential nutrition. As part of the inaugural initiative, 700 eggs were distributed to children at Sri Rakum School for the Blind in Bengaluru, marking the beginning of an effort that IIHM plans to expand across its campuses.
Envisioned as a sustainable community initiative, the Egg Bank brings together food, education and social service while encouraging IIHM students to look beyond the conventional boundaries of hospitality and understand the impact they can create through service.
The initiative reinforces IIHM’s belief that hospitality is not only about serving guests, but also about serving society—creating professionals who are skilled, compassionate and committed to making a difference.
