IIHM attends Bengal Business Council’s Vision Conclave 4.0
Students gain valuable exposure to the world of business leadership
The International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) actively supported the Annual Convention and Vision Conclave 4.0 of the Bengal Business Council (BBC), held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the New Town Convention Centre, Kolkata. The flagship convention brought together policymakers, government representatives, business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, academicians and young professionals around the theme “Developed West Bengal for a Developed India.”
As a member of the Bengal Business Council, Dr. Suborno Bose, Chairman, IIHM Worldwide, was present at the convention and, on behalf of BBC, felicitated Shri Swapan Dasgupta, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Finance, Government of West Bengal. The conclave also featured prominent voices including Dr. Ashok Lahiri, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, along with senior ministers, policymakers and business leaders.

For IIHM, the event was much more than participation in a prestigious business gathering. IIHM students and faculty members played an active role in supporting the organisation and execution of the convention, giving students an opportunity to experience the professional world beyond the classroom. From assisting dignitaries and supporting event operations to interacting with senior officials and industry leaders, students witnessed first-hand the discipline, coordination, grooming and hospitality skills required to manage a large-scale corporate event.
The experience offered a valuable lesson in MICE, event management, guest relations and professional etiquette. Students also had the opportunity to observe how business leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs communicate, network and collaborate—an exposure that can significantly shape their understanding of the wider hospitality and business ecosystem.
For IIHM, such opportunities reflect its commitment to experiential learning and industry-connected education. The Bengal Business Council itself aims to promote entrepreneurship, collaboration and business development, making the association particularly meaningful for an institution preparing young people for leadership in hospitality and related industries.
By placing students at the heart of a high-profile business convention, IIHM continues to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional experience, helping its students become confident, capable and industry-ready hospitality professionals.
